Why Support?

FYI needs your support to improve life outcomes for kids in Washington Heights.

Washington Heights is a community of immigrants where parents make sacrifices and work hard to give their kids the opportunity to succeed in school and in life. Many parents, however, lack the time, language skills, and/or social capital to support their children’s academic achievement.

FYI's programs and services fill those gaps.

With your support, FYI will continue to empower youth with the fewest resources to achieve their greatest potential. The funds raised through the 5K will support:

  • The Welcome Program, which provides intensive literacy help to 260 students Pre-K to 5 at P.S. 128 The Audubon School.
  • Middle School College Access Program, which serves 520 seventh grade students at four local schools to begin planning, thinking about, and experiencing college.
  • Social Services at Gregorio Luperon High School for Science and Math, which provides counseling and crisis intervention to the school's 535 students throughout the day.
