Run, walk, or roll with us on Sunday, November 8, 2020 for the second annual Fresh Youth Initiatives (FYI) 5K.
This year, we’re going virtual. To comply with public health measures, we won’t be gathering in Riverside Park. Instead, we will all do our own 5K walking or running wherever is most convenient; just make sure to stay 6 feet apart from other runners!
It’s still a group event, in 2020 style: distanced, but united in purpose.
What Do I Need to Know?
During the weekend of November 8, at a time and place that works best for you, get out there and run, walk, or roll your own 5 Kilometer (3.1 miles) race. This is the culmination of your fundraising and your training – THANK YOU!
You will still receive all the fun event swag: a race bib, customized t-shirt, and finisher medal will all be mailed directly to your home, and FYI is giving prizes for the top fundraiser and highest points-earner, so get hyped!
You will still receive all the fun event swag: a race bib, customized t-shirt, and finisher medal will all be mailed directly to your home when you complete the race. We will also stay connected through this website and all of FYI's social media: make sure to follow and tag @FreshYouthFYI on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram and use the hashtag #FYI5K.
COVID-19 exposed the narrow margins within which many FYI families survive. Our Washington Heights community of hard-working Latino immigrant and first-generation families continues to experience disproportionate rates of illness, unemployment, housing instability, and lack of access to social services.
In March, FYI quickly pulled together a safety net of new and reimagined programs and services for our 1,400 youth and their families. The need remains, however, and that is why, and that is why we need you.
With your help, FYI will remain a source of direct support for families who need it most. All money raised will provide:
